If you're going to brew up a stout in the stout season start and end with this one. A deep flavor profile with chocolate & coffee and more that my poor palate cannot explain but my friends & I do enjoy. Great kit. Might be the most on target imperial I've ever made. I added 1/2 pounds of cocoa nibs and four vanilla beans in primary after about 4 days of fermentation. The flavor is getting better with each passing week. Ill def buy this again.

This came out really well! It's a bit less sweet than one of the commercial BiBs I tried. Flavors of blackstrap molasses, espresso coffee, dark toast, and a lingering and beguiling bitterness. OG was 1.081 and final ABV calculated out as 8.5%. I used White Labs WLP001 yeast with a 2 L starter. I doubt that I could improve on the recipe. No need to try.
