Sweet Orange Peel

    Description

Traditionally used in Belgian beers, these Sweet Orange Peels will not give you a metallic taste like some other kinds of Oranges tend to do. If you are familiar with the taste of Grand Marnier, this is the sort of flavor you will find in these peels. Great for that added depth in your holiday beer, strong ales, and Belgians. Add about 1/2 ounce per 5 gallons for the last 15 minutes of the boil. Can be combined with Paradise seed and Honey for added depth.

        Great Ale!

Love it. I am able to brew an ale that beats the taste of Blue Moon and Shock Top. My friends and family demand that I brew more.

        Cheap and Convenient

Zesting fresh orange peels is a pain. This product is inexpensive and easy to use. I added 1 oz boiled in water for 5 minutes after primary fermentation to an American Pale Ale extract recipe. It added just a hint of orange and paired nicely with a 1/2 oz of Amarillo dry hop addition. The final beer has turned out great! I may try soaking these in some vodka to make a sweet orange peel extract next time.

        Beautiful Addition to my Witbier

Threw an ounce in with 10 mins left in the boil and this stuff shines through in the finished beer. Not enough to be overt. A nice subtle / sweet orange presence.

Nice flavor boost for wheat beer

Designed a basic wheat beer extract recipe for my non-brewing brother in law, this helped give it that great citrus flavor and aroma. Good stuff.

a little something extra to give your belgians that extra 5% something special

I originally bought this for my mead, but it's worked bettir in my belgian ales.

the orange peel looks to have the white part of the peel. I heard this is nasty to leave on. Does this come with the white part on it?

        MoreBeer!

Thank you for your question. There is a small amount of that white pith on these peels. It is fairly minimal. The biggest impact on flavor and bitterness will be how long you steep the peels in your beer. We recommend an exposure time of 1-5 days. The best method would be to taste test the beer every day at least once and be ready to rack the beer off the orange peels or pull them out of the keg as soon as you taste the flavor you want.

        Are these organic?

        MoreBeer!

No. These orange peels are not organic.
