It is supposed to thread right in I believe however the spigot that came with my order did not fit at all and we had to use a tap to make the threads the proper size. This was a year ago and when I reached out to MoreBeer at the time they said that they may have received a batch of the wrong spigots. Best to contact them directly before placing your order. Cheers

Best if you don't use any type of spigot at all. They are just going to leak some day and need replacing. Then you will have to turn the barrel or drain it to replace the spigot.
