I needed a cane longer than my 26" stainless steel cane hence my order. But the insertion length (bend to tip end) is the same as my 26" SS cane. The MoreWine customer reps were great contacting the vendor who informed them that 30" was the entire tube length. Racking can be slow so I decided to try a 1/2 inch cane. This one works well but will not fit in a 5 gallon carboy ( I have 20 of them). I cut off about 1.5 inches of the bend in order to thread it into a carboy opening. You will have about 1 inch remaining which will keep it from picking up all the lees. I also purchased 5 foot of the 1/2 tubing as recommended. The problem is when siphoning this tubing filled with wine weighs quite a bit and that weight crimps the tubing at the top of the siphon tube cutting off flow. I have been supporting the tubing by hand in order to maximize the flow.
