I have used several other kveiks for different beers, but chose the Lutra for a mead. It was ready to bottle in two weeks, bottle carbonated at 3 weeks and crystal clear at 8 weeks. Beast mead I've ever made. Will never use anything else for mead.

Brewed last night at 6pm. Pitched at 94 degrees. Went to check on it this morning at 9:00 and it looks like fermentation is complete!!! I let it rest on the yeast cake for a week. Do a gravity reading and then let it condition.
This is my favorite yeast! I don't have to be a careful with my temp control and produces a very clean and consistent profile.
I've used this yeast largely for pseudo-lagers and hard seltzers, and it's a champ. The "lagers" are plausible, and the seltzers are clean enough - a note though, to get that, I've been fermenting at 72f. Finally, this stuff is a touch pricier than US05 or 34/70, so it may not fully replace all other clean yeasts as a house strain.
Clean fermenting yeast that rips through sugar like a hurricane. I never heat it up, just leave it out at room temps 72°. I wouldn’t go so far as to suggest it is lager-like. I’ve never picked up even a hint of sulphur or the minerality a lager strain. But it is cleaner than US-05 Chico.
Used it for a 5 gal batch of seltzer with the proper nutrient. Finished out in about 4 days. Has a bit of a white wine character on the nose.
Using several strains of Kveik. Stranda, Hornindal. Now Lutra. Lutra a strain of Hornindal family. Might be a little cleaner than the actual Hornindal Kveik. Time will tell.Fast. 2.5 days at 81F.
Ferments fast and clean
Monster fermenter pitch @ 90 with ambient room temp of 78. Airlock was going Crazy 3 hours later and reach F.G. in less than 3 days. Dropped clear in 4 days but I left on the cake for 7 total days. Bottled and primed on day 7 it was fully carbed on day 14 but slightly yeasty tasting but smoothed out after a week in the fridge.
Used this with a Munich Helles. The beer is still improving. The Lutra yeast was working before I finished cleaning my equipment.
This yeast is great I just wish my local homebrew store had it so I didn't have to ship it. Love this yeast and plan on harvesting it as many times as I can. This yeast ferments crazy fast and attenuates hard so if you're trying to make a dry crisp ipa or pseudo lager and you want it to be Grain to glass in under a week, this is the one to go for.Get it really hot (35-40 degrees celcius) in order to maximize its potential.
It works just as good as the liquid version, without needing overnight shipping. A++
Direct pitched with no starter for hard seltzer. Fermented just the same as the liquid form of this yeast and didn't need to purchase an ice pack for shipping.
Grade A yeast in a dry form. I will buy this yeast again.
This yeast is everything the manufacturer said it would be fermented clean and fast. Fermented at 95f fermentation was complete by day 3. Maybe just a small hint of some fruit but its a real stretch used it for a blonde ale and it was in the keg by day 5 fermented 1.057 to 1.010 in 3 days probably less thats just when I pulled a sample kept at 95f for entire fermentation. Had over a year on the use by date I know that it is a factor for some.
Great yeast will eat anything. Great flavor too.
I have had good results making pseudo lagers with liquid Lutra, but I have always preferred dry yeast over liquid yeast, Dry yeast is easier amd has a longer shelf life.
This is my new go-to for pseudo-lagers (I’m too impatient for true lager yeast). Works great, it’s fast and clean. Glad they came out with a dry version.
