I'm not qualified to answer that question. I bought a gallon of DI water on Amazon for $17. It lasts pretty long; but I may try distilled next time to see what difference it makes. Hope that helps a little.

Yes I believe that is what is meant by deionized. Either distilled or RO water but I think distilled would be best as RO water can still have trace amounts of solids.

Yes it will work just fine. Either one will have very few ions in them. You should be able to even use tap water. The whole point of a buffer is that it maintains a specific pH even with acid or base is added to it (until the buffer is overwhelmed). There is not enough ions in tap water to overwhelm a buffer. Distilled even less so. Distilled water is also good for rinsing off your pH meter. RDWHHB. Happy brewing.

Well I use well water and the PH is around 6.5. I believe that distilled water is neutral at 7.0 so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work! It’s been great so far for me!

Distilled water works great for these. The distilling process removes the all of the same ions that a deionization or a reverse osmosis filter will remove. If you're wondering you can always test your water with a cheap TDS (total disolved solids) meter.

Deionized water and distilled water are essentially the same thing. Distilled water is potentially more pure because the membranes in a reverse osmosis system used to produce deionized water can foul. I buy distilled water for around $0.89 per gallon at my grocery store. Use distilled water. You can't go wrong.

Definitely. The Ph buffer on these solutions is strong - meaning they aren’t as sensitive to ph changes as water or even wort may be.

Tap water will affect the pH of the solutions. Distilled will work best. I usually buy a gallon or two to keep around for calibrating pH star san bottles and starters.

Hello Soren the manufacturer directs to use deionized water. Using something other than may result in a buffer solution that's not accurate.

Deionized water only. Easiest thing to do is just buy some buffer solution depending on what pH levels you are testing.
