    A truly tranquil beer, the Glass Lake Pale Ale is our take on the Deschutes Brewery Mirror Pond Pale Ale.  We kept the malts simple, using maltodextrin and Crystal 10L, the lightest crystal malt we offer, to add a little body and color to the smooth malt backbone that our ultralight malt extract provides. Cascade is the only hop varietal in this recipe, being used from bittering all the way to the dry hop addition!

    The result is a very smooth and balanced beer, complete with the classic floral, citrus & grapefruit aromas and flavors that Cascade hops are so well known for.

    • IBUs: 39-43

    Our recipe kits DO NOT include grain bags, yeast or priming sugar.     Liquid Malt Extract (LME) vs. Dried Malt Extract (DME)

LME is a viscous liquid, similar in consistency to maple syrup. In addition to being the more affordable option, many brewers find LME easier to handle than dry extract. DME is more condensed and comes in a powder format that is similar to baking flour. Although it’s a little more costly, DME is naturally lighter in color and stays fresher for longer. We highly recommend DME when brewing light colored beers.

        Great flavor, broad appeal

        We're long-time fans of the Deschuttes Mirror Pond, and this one hit the spot. My son & I got busy & let it go in the dry hop phase for too long, but it still came out tasting great -- just a little more bitter & less fruity/floral on the hops.I hadn't brewed for many years, but my son & I chose this kit to get back into the game, and we're really enjoying it. We might do a repeat on this recipe before we explore brewing from grain. Great flavor overall, with broad appeal. Excellent Cascade hop flavor without getting whacked upside the head.

        What mirror pond should be.

        What a great recipe and great products. Ended up at 5.28% alcohol by volume and was absolutely delicious. A nice crisp pale ale with just enough hop. I highly recommend it to all of those mirror pond fans.

        Good pale ale

        Shipping was prompt and free. Makes mail order with More Beer more competitive than with the closet shop to me. Glass Lake is a good American pale ale. Brewed on Nov. 19; drinking on Dec. 22.

        Nice flavor, I added 8oz of dark barley to the steep, gave it a mild coffee back taste.

        I brewed this and it turned out very good. I haven?t had a Mirror Pond in a couple of years it did seem similar as I remember it, and all that tried it enjoyed it. I hit 1.055 in the fermenter with 5.5 gallons. Fermented at 68 F for fourteen days and ended at 1.010. Bottle conditioned for fourteen days and cold stored for fourteen days at 38 F. I would recommend this as an easy drinking APA.
