This is my first foray into home coffee roasting and I recommend it highly. The unit does what it is advertised to do. It’s a pleasure to watch the beans transform from straw smelling greenish beans to drinkable nice smelling roast. I believe it is a good reproducible introduction to coffee roasting. There are not a whole lot of variables that you can control aside from the fan heat and time. If you are careful and attentive you can do some delicious roasts. After about a dozen roasts it made me realize how enjoyable this is and I am already looking into what it takes to go to the next level already. Several comments though: 1. It is a tippy unbalanced top heavy design and you need to take care. 2. Chaff cleaning of the beans is good but be prepared to use the colander. 3. It’s a sweet design but is grossly overpriced for what it is. The price of the SR800 is almost twice the cost of a 500 model from just a few years ago without a whole lot of difference.
