Two drops per gallon of wort being boiled and you'll avoid a sticky mess if you turn away from your kettle for three seconds. I had six drops in three gallons of wort and my "boil" looked like a slow, rolling simmer. Very impressive stuff...
Wish I would have had this years ago
This works great at reducing foam during hot break and boil. I haven't had a boil over since I started using this. Thumbs up!!
Been using it for years. Always in my brewing toolbox.
Works and didn't have a negative effect on the beer
Keeps foam down to avoid boil over in my air still when using a wash of mash that may be prone to overboil.
Wow! I used this on my last 3 boils. Just a few drops made the foam disappear. No more boil overs. Impressed.
Does what it says it does. Cheap. Effective. Results are often immediate. Has prevented many a boil over. Every brewer should give this a try at least once.
A must for anything over 1.050.
The one ounce bottle is nearly impossible to open. It hurts my fingers terribly and after ten minutes I usually give up. When I've gotten it open it does work well.
This product is amazing, so many uses to stop excessive foaming. I can more fully use the volume of pots and flasks.
Works great, allows for fuller kettle and no fear of boil over.
I use it for foam/krausen control when I make a starter. I have 2.5L starters with a 5L flask on a stir plate and the yeast still climb out. When I first used this, the yeast was already foaming up, I put a drop of this in, looked away for a second, and when I looked again, the foam was gone completely. Instant results. I had to add another drop the next day, but it did the job by preventing the yeast from climbing out of the flask. Not sure about the chemistry and physics though...
We have used Foam Control for the last 3-4 years with fantastic success. Really helps prevent boil overs (and therefore keeps clean up easier too) when we are pushing our half barrel system to the limit. Also super effective in fermentation!
Realice el pedido a morebeer y este llego a tiempo, me economice dinero es fabuloso
Been using for years to help avoid boil overs.
Boil the wort hard without fear of a boil over. Use it in the starter in a 2 L flask to virtually eliminate a boil over.
I don't know how I've lived without this for so many years. Instantly all of my boiling over or exploding fermentor issues are gone. I can't recommend it enough.
Worked great on my new Brewzilla, let me push my boil volume without the worry of a boil over.
Foam is for Beer Not your Boil!
I made a mistake and only added 2 drops to my entire batch right before the hot break. Because of this I still almost had a boil over. HOWEVER, it immediately knocked down ALL of the foam that was in the kettle at that time. I have no doubt it would have worked well if I had added the correct amount.
I put it in my boil and didn't come close to a boil over, I think next time I will put it in my fermenter, as this one needed a blow off tube and spit everywhere
Works perfectly to reduce the chance of boil overs in smaller kettles
Worked great I’m my starter!!! Just two drops and no boil over.
Worked like a champ to control the foam! It was a bit difficult using an eye dropper as the liquid was rather thick!
I have only used once and I didn't use enough, only added 3-4 drops to 7 gallons, seemed to help especially during fermentation? I will use next batch and add the amount recommended at 2 drops per gallon, still seemed to knock down foam!
Used before the boil of a large batch of Belgian Triple. No excessive foaming at all. One caveat though is maybe to re-add some drops before fermentation too. I didn't do this and had a pretty significant blow-off and mess. Maybe my initial addition during the boil dropped out and was not effective for the fermentation portion?
Been using for a few years in my fermenters so I don't lose to my blow off vessel what I should be drinking. Had a hothead starter going the other day and I should've used a drop or two.
Great product at a good price
I had purchased a 5 gallon Speidel fermenter when I upgraded from 1 gallon to 5 gallon batches. Should have got the 7 gallon fermenter because, being a noob, I didn’t realize I need the extra head space. Had a few disastrous blow-off incidents (Imagine stout spewed all over the ceiling and walls) so I did some online research. This product Fermcap-S was recommended to control the krausen development which causes blow-off.I simply add 10 drops right before adding the wort to the fermenter and the past 5 batches of brew since using Fermcap have been blow-off free. There is also this added benefit of the final beer product having a denser head. How that works? No clue, it just does. One bottle should last about 10-15 five gallon batches so it is an inexpensive addition to my brewing process.
Works well to control foam over in both the boil and during high yeast activity
Principally Used for boiling DME in flask for starters , no more boilovers, used some in boil kettle to try and same results, still need to try in fermentors and see what happens.
This actually works. Add some to your wort before the boil and it will break the surface tension and prevent boil overs when adding hops.
