When I received this kit I was worried because the base malt was the Viking Europe malt, which is kilned like Pilsner malt. The recipe sheet says Pale Ale and I just expected a Maris Otter like base malt, which would be the Golden Ale Viking malt. I decided to just brew it and see what I got. What a pleasant surprise. The special roast must really give a Maris like flavor, this beer is really good and I think it's spot on for the style (take that with a grain of salt, I've never had a pint from a pub in England, but I've brewed quite a few with "authentic ingredients"). Very well balanced, maybe tipping every so slightly to the bitter, but it's really a perfect light beer with lots of character.

I am very happy with the quality of ingredients and the flavor of the finished batch turned out very nice. Easy to brew you'll be happy with the results.

What a great kit. Beer came out nicely balanced between malty and bitter. Reminds me of Redhook ESB in Seattle, one of my favorites.

I ordered this kit as my first ever all grain beer. It couldn't have turned out better as an easy to drink balanced flavorful beer. I've gotten rave reviews from the few people that have tried it. I think it's one I'll keep on tap quite often.

I've made this one 3 times now. It's light yet flavorful a bit of malt and nice 40's IBU bitterness. My BLF (Bud lite Friends) really love it, and me too. Nice summer time ale. I've been hitting 5.5% alc on it. The color is darker than amber. Good served ice cold and I've been carbonating to 12.5 so I can put it from the keg into growlers and still have a nice carbonation to it.
