DigiMash Electric Brewing System | Gen 2 DigiBoil | 35L | 9.25G | 110V

    Description

The Gen 2 DigiBoil features two distinct updates that are not currently pictured in the primary images. The stainless steel lid has been upgraded to a glass lid, allowing you to observe and monitor boil activity. The rubber feet have been replaced with a plastic base that provides improved stability and slightly raises the unit for better ground clearance. Updated images coming soon.

    • The most affordable all-in-one automated all-grain brewing system!
    • Mash grains and boil wort in a single vessel
    • DigiBoil electric kettle automatically maintains mash temperatures with the digital controller
    • Dual heating elements combine for 1500W of power
    • Also available with optional Recirculation Pump Kit!

The DigiMash system represents the best value in electric all-grain brewing you'll find. With a 9-gallon DigiBoil electric kettle and the DigiMash stainless steel mashing accessory pack included, this is by far the most affordable way to get into electric all-grain brewing. It may not have all the bells and whistles of the BrewZilla, but it does have everything you need to mash and boil all in one unit. Setting up and using the DigiMash couldn't be easier. Simply place the false bottom inside the kettle and install the malt pipe, fill with water and heat to your desired strike temperature, then add your grain and set your desired mash temperature on the digital controller. Once your mash is complete, lift up the malt pipe, drain the wort and sparge, then remove the malt pipe and proceed to boil.

If you're deciding between the DigiMash and the BrewZilla, there are a couple of key differences worth noting. One of our favorite features of the BrewZilla is the programmable mash steps and delayed start, which the DigiMash does not have. You can still step mash by simply raising the temperature manually on the controller, but the automatic steps are a convenient feature if you want to set it and forget it.

The other major difference between the two systems is that the BrewZilla features a built-in pump for recirculating the mash. Recirculation is a great way to improve mash efficiency, but it is far from required for a successful brew day. Using an external pump with the DigiMash is also an option, and one can be integrated for mash recirculation quite easily. Simply connect the ball valve to the inlet of your pump, and then connect the outlet of the pump to our Sparge Arm Assembly.

This model comes with the 35L DigiBoil, which has two built-in heating elements that run off a 110V plug. One element is 1000w and the other is 500w for a combined 1500 watts! The elements can be individually controlled, allowing you to use a single element to gently hold temperatures, or engage both elements to quickly go from mash temp to boiling. Temperatures are set and automatically maintained through the digital control panel. Simply set your desired temperature and flip on the heating element(s).

Integrated stainless ball valve comes with a 13mm barb (approx. 1/2"). The barb can be removed to attach fittings with 1/2" FPT, such as our female threaded quick disconnect.

    DigiBoil Features:

    • 304 stainless steel construction
    • 9 gallon total capacity
    • Digital temperature control
    • 110V / 15A power and plug (5 ft. cord)

    • Heating elements are concealed for easy cleaning
    • 304 stainless steel 1/2" ball valve with 13mm barb (approx. 1/2")
    • Stamped-in volume markers (gallons & liters)
    • Stainless lid
    • Temperature reads in °F or °C
      • With elements turned off, hold both +/- buttons to switch between °F or °C
    • Recommended max. grain bill - 18 lbs
    • Recommended min. grain bill - 8 lbs
    • External Dimensions: 29" H x 15" W (including handles)
    • Internal Dimensions: 19.5" H x 11.75" W

        Great for the price

Only issue is a light boil and scorching on the bottom of the vessel after boil so I can only do 30 minute boils without significant change in color of my brews. Takes about 30 minutes to boil from mash out which isn't terrible. Overall can't be upset about the product as it was fairly cheep!

Good all-in-one brew kettle with some limitations

Overall I am happy with the Digimash 110V kettle but there are a few things to know. It does come to a boil but very light. The thermostat on the unit will never read above 208 degrees. I used a different thermostat and the inside wort temperature reached 214 degrees but never went higher than that. Bottom line it did reach a slow boil which will work. It takes a while to reach mash temp and boil (about 45 minutes to 156 and another 45 to reach boil). However this is no worse than using a stovetop (if you can even get 6 gallons to a boil on a stovetop). You really can't do a full water mash. My recipe had 11 1/2 pounds of grain which called for almost 7 1/2 gallons of water. Once I added the grain the water level was at the rim of the kettle. Next time I will just use 1 gallon less water for the mash and add it back prior to the boil. This is really not an issue just something to know before you make a big mess with a recipe with 12+ pounds of grain. The handle for the mash pipe barely fits and will easily come off when you are lifting it out of the kettle making a huge mess. I was able to fix this by bending out the holes on the mash pipe just a little bit (1/16" on each side). This allowed the handle to be much more secure. I am really surprised this was not something identified and fixed by the manufacturer (I am not the only one to have brought this issue up). Lastly don't go by the built in thermometer to know when your wort is cooled. I think the sediment that ends up on top of the false bottom keeps the liquid at the bottom near the thermostat much warmer (30+ degrees) than the rest of the wort. Just use a meat thermometer in the top half. None of the issues I mentioned would keep me from buying this again just some things for future buyers to know. In the end it was great being able to do a all-grain full boil in my kitchen!!

Put it through the ringer and performed well but not impressed.

I've been brewing all-grain (cooler and direct fire mash tun) for several years and wanted to brew inside during the cold new England winters. That said my first brew so far was in a 30° garage with a 14lb grain bill. TLDR; Definitely can't handle 18lbs like the spec sheet says. I maxed it out at 13 lbs and 7.75 gallons of strike water. Maybe try a grain bag for more grist. Took 1.5 hours to get strike water to mash temp (153°) in 40° garage meh. Kept a nice rolling boil at 1000w heating. A plus. Surprised it fairly easy to clean except for the malt pip catcher that loops inside. That was covered in malt from maxing out the malt pipe.

        Happy first time brewer

This was my first time brewing beer and I went all grain too. I loved being able to set the mash temperatures digitally. The equipment worked as it should and I couldn’t have had a smoother brew day. The beer turned out great.

        Great bare bones system

It's a great bare bones all-in-one electric system. I don't need the fancy programming and bells and whistles that come with the more expensive products. In retrospect I would have gotten the version with the pump to recirculate for increased efficiency but I can buy that separately.

Great value and easy to use.

I’ve used it twice so far and I love it. Everything from mash to boil in one pot. The insert lifts all the grains out and the double mesh screens filter the majority of the husks out. The great thing is there’s not boil over. I gave it 4 stars because there were no assembly instructions for the insert just plastic bags of parts but if you’re mechanicly inclined you’ll figure it out.

        Good value, some quality issues

For the money, this is fantastic. It made my brew day easy and already looking forward to brew number two.The wire support for this item seems too large. It overlaps when inserted, which does not seem to be an issue on other similar systems. It also took significant effort to place it in, which discourages me from removing it for cleaning. The bottom screen of the malt pipe is not entirely flat. I am not sure if this was a shipping issue or just poor quality control. The handle for the malt pipe is just strangely designed. It can fall out when the malt pipe isn't completely in.Overall though, it works.

Maintaining a consistent mash temp with the element is a little difficult. I’m going to have to start insulating when mashing. Other than that works well. Time to 163 is about 45 mins.

Does the gasket for the ball valve go on the inside or outside ?

        MoreBeer!

        Inside!! Cheers!!

        MoreBeer!

The gasket goes on the inside. You should not overtighten. I always recommend heating water the first time you use it so that you will make sure it doesn’t leak! Best to check for leaks with hot water!

        MoreBeer!

Outside. I would some keg lube or other food safe grease a small amount on gasket to reduce friction because it needs to be removed every brew for proper cleaning.

        MoreBeer!

Don't have the system in front of me but the manual says it goes on the outside.

        MoreBeer!

We have two of these Digiboil systems and the gasket was installed on the inside and we have had no issues. Hope this helped.
