CMBecker In-Line Flow Control Compensator

    Description

Add the perfect amount of restriction to any beer line to reduce foam. Eliminates the need for flow control in the faucet itself. Great for use in Jockey Boxes or anywhere you are serving beverages with varying levels of carbonation.

If you are currently using a long length of tubing to increase restriction you can now shorten your tubing. A shorter line holds less beer. Beer that is stored in the line tends to warm up quicker, adding to foaming issues, and is more likely to stale from bacteria present in the line.

    Features:
    • Adjust flow with an included Allen wrench (keeps unauthorized people from adjusting the unit)
    • Eliminate foam from beer or slow down / speed up other beverages
    • Fix systems with issues without having to replace lines or faucets
    • Take the guesswork out of line restriction.  You can use shorter lines and still have perfect restriction.  You can also use larger ID lines and adjust as necessary.
    • Easy to disassemble for cleaning, clear body for easy monitoring
    • Made in Germany by CM Becker from Food grade plastic and stainless steel parts!
    • Comes Equipped with 2 x 3/16" Barbs
    • Easy to install to any existing beer line (cut line and install two clamps)

        Amazing product!

I have struggled for years getting a proper pour every time and these have really solved the problem. Not only can I get rid of the longer 3/8 line, but slowing the pour from either over carbonation, or just increasing as the keg gets low has worked perfectly for me. If I didn't already have stainless taps, I would have just purchased 4 of the flow control faucets that operate in the same way. If you are on a budget, this is a great alternative and recomend 1/4 or 5/16th line and not 3/8. One last item to mention is the event faucet that also has the same flow control. Awesome product!!

        Very happy

This worked perfectly for me. I'm new to this an have a seltzer setup and it works great. CM Becker shop and ship experience was great as well.

This is what you need for party taps!

Wow, these things are the way to go! With a couple pours you can get the beer-foam ratio dialed in and adjust as the keg ices down or warms up, or if you change to a keg with different carbonation pressure. Adjusts from no flow to way to much and all points in between. Using the Allen wrench is a pain, a lever would be better. Else, these things are great.

        Pricey but they work

I really like these flow controllers. I hear other people talk about having 14' of line in their keezers and I just smile because I have just enough line to reach from my keg to the faucet thanks to these. Crank up the psi in your regulator and if you're getting foam just pinch the compensator back a little and voila...no foam! Only downside is this model requires an allen wrench to adjust the compensator which can also be a good thing so it won't easily get knocked open/closed.

        Works great. Saves beer.

        These work really well

They are a touch difficult to adjust as the adjustment isn't very fine, you have to play with them a bit. But, once you've got these adjusted so your flow is correct, you don't have to play with them at all. They also come apart easily for cleaning, and install very easily too.The first one I installed close to the tap, the other three close to the ball lock. Either place works as well, but I like close to the keg as it makes it easier to get to for maintenance, adjustment, etc. With these I can greatly shorten the length of my beer line, as well as highly carbonate beer (like a brut) and have it pour perfect. Great invention, wish I'd known about these a long time ago.

        Picture perfect pours every time!

The In-Line Flow Control Compensator was super easy to install and worked flawlessly. Every pour was perfect! It also saved space in my kegerator by cutting my beer line length in half.

        Perfect, just perfect

Far a couple years now I had been trying to get into the keg thing. Somehow I missed that the pressure a keg needs to not go flat has nothing to do with the pressure it pours from the faucet at. Keg pressure keeps beer at proper carbonation. Hose length controls flow thus also foaming issues, duh.I kept keeping light American beer at like 10 psi so my faucet didn't explode and by the kegs end it was flat. Finally upon more research I realized my beer needs to be at 15-16 psi for keg pressure and I need 8-10 feet of hose for flow rate (I had 5'). So I hoped this was the last piece to the puzzle without having to mess with hose length And it was, put this in my 5' hose, adjusted it to about 1/2 open and perfect. No more flat beer and proper pour speed. Worth every penny. Now I can also change out beers and easily control flow without messing with line length.

        Just The Ticket

I can't get my beer tap quite as cold as it should be to avoid too much foam. The slightly higher temperature beer tastes great, but some carbonation is lost in dispensing. After installing the Flow Control Compensator, I can pour a perfect glass of beer. Well worth the money. I highly recommend it.

This flow control unit is amazing! If you have a two tap kegerator but only have a single CO2 on your CO2 then it can be a nightmare trying to find the balance in pressure for two different styles of beer on tap. An IPA may pour Great at 12 psi while another beer pours better higher or lower. With this flow control unit, you set the psi to the beer on one line while adjusting the flow with this unit on the other line and, viola, both beers are happy. This makes us happy!

If you're running key kegs, you'll need this

We're on a remote island and almost all beer here is distributed in one-way keys. The notoriously difficult key kegs were giving us such problems. We tried secondary regulators, and even put our key kegs upside down on blocks, but still crazy foam issues.Morebeer sent a batch of these to us out here (very reasonable shipping I might add), and it just worked. Slows the pour down but no foam, and we're saving money. Highly recommended!

Great addition to highly carbed beer

Places this on a five foot line of 3/16 diameter ending at a picnic tap to dispense s highly carbonated saison (21 psi). Took only a couple of minutes and less than a pint to dial in a good level of restriction to pour a glass without excessive foaming. Way easier than using 15 feet of tubing and holding above my head to add some vertical restriction. Glad I got this on sale for Black Friday. Not sure I would have paid full price and it was still a bit expensive. Overall, great addition for my more carbonated brew.

        Effective

I first tried this on a heavy Irish stout and was easily able to get exactly the desired amount of head foam out of a picnic tap on a short 3/8" ID beer line, without having to change the pressure on the regulator. Definitely a great device.*Pros:*- Indeed, it is easy to take apart for cleaning and reassemble. The hose barbs are on nuts that screw on to the ends, and it can also come apart at the middle using a faucet wrench (or manually, if it's not on too tight), so you don't have to un-do any hose clamps for maintenance.- Very fine control/good articulation of the flow control "nose cone"- Good-looking, and it's fun watching the turbulent beer flow through the conical part*Cons:*- PriceOverall, this is *really* nice, though it almost seems like overkill for flow control in portable draught dispensing (the purpose I got it for), especially if less expensive alternatives exist. However, if I started a brewpub business, I'd definitely want one of these behind every tap.

Can you replace the bard with a flare connection?

        MoreBeer!

No the barbs are connected to a gasket as one piece so they can’t be substituted

What are the options to connect to the shank is there an option for a fitting or must you run a beer line on both ends? What is the outlet bore diameter?

        MoreBeer!

The fittings seem to be larger then 3/16 likely 5/16 or 1/4 tubing.

        MoreBeer!

Both ends have standard diameter plastic hex nuts with nipples (I’m pretty sure 3/16”). You could remove the nipple and hex nut from the outlet end and theoretically connect it directly to the end of the shank with a fitting like this: https://www.morebeer.mom/products/stailness-full-coupler-12.html

Will this work to dispense sparkling wine/champagne at approx 50 psi? If not what would you recommend to use? Thanks.

        MoreBeer!

You can use this at 50PSI. It was originally designed for Soda so it should work excellent for this.

        MoreBeer!

Perhaps but you would want to make sure the seals are tight enough. I typically use this for kegs with some stouts pressurized at up to 38psi. There is no indication of a pressure rating for this device so it may not hurt to ask the manufacturer directly. 50 psi seems high for champagne that is already highly carbonated and this device increases line constriction to reduce foaming. Works great for standard beer kegs. I'm happy with it.

        MoreBeer!

This will work in conjunction with a faucet.

        MoreBeer!

I would not recommend it for this. I have found it can compensate for being a few pounds out of balance but not much more. I would recommend a ton of choker line (3/16") (theoretically 15ft is plenty but in practice we use 35-45 ft for our seltzer at 45psi) before your faucet or picnic tap.

        MoreBeer!

I found it to be effective at controlling flow of beer at pressures up to 18 psi but it’s not convenient. I cannot speak to whether or not it is rated for use up to 50psi. I bought one as a test piece on a beer line system and found it inconvenient to adjust the flow on the line for our servers who would have to go into the serving cooler to adjust it. We instead opted for a flow control spout/tap. This allowed the servers to adjust the flow on the fly right from the spout/tap as they were pouring beer. They could make instant adjustments to account for full kegs low kegs weird spikes in CO2 etc. If you’re pouring from a keg system I would recommend getting flow control spouts for the simplicity and convenience. I hope this helps.

I currently have a 5’ line going from the keg to the jockey box. I’m assuming this installs in-line with the 5’. How much can I actually shorten the line with the flow control and not run into issues?

        MoreBeer!

You do not need the hose to restrict at all. This device will provide complete restriction. It is better to have the inline flow control closer to the faucet.

        MoreBeer!

Hi Darryl - These are normally used for stationary draft lines the jockey box presents other variables. That being said with you application yes between the keg and jockey box. The line between kegs and box can be as short as you like as pressure is created in the jb lines.

How do you properly adjust this valve? It came with no instructions. There seems to be a thumb screw and an alan key but I don't know if one tightens it and one locks it or what. I have put 3 different beers through it and one poured perfectly one was incredibly foamy and one was somewhere in between all without turning anything. How do you adjust the flow up or down?

        MoreBeer!

Here is a Utube video: https://www.morebeer.mom/products/inline-flow-control-compensator.html#reviews You need to turn the Allen Wrench not the nut. The nut is only for assembly. You can turn it either direction. The important thing is that when the cone is pushed towards the back it will restrict. The front is where the Allen Wrench fits and the rear is where the cone goes into. The beer flow direct is from rear to front. This should have come with paper instructions.

        MoreBeer!

Hello Jack - Using the allen key turning Clock-Wise will slow or stop flow respectively turning Counter-Clock-Wise will open and increase flow. Here is a great video on CM Becker's website. https://youtu.be/o_HtIWGAC6Y
