We only had to take a step drill bit and put the holes in the top of our MoreBeer 14 gallon conical and install the coil. We hooked it up to a Penguin Chiller using their pump and temperature kit and it's working great! Here's to Lagers year round!
Started using this today, working great!
I actually used it in a 14 gallon SS brew bucket as it is about $250 cheaper than the one SS sells and is the perfect size, obviously I had to drill my own holes in the lid but that took 5 minutes. It can also be used to lower the wort temp fast before pitching
I used this with my ss brewtech 7 gal fermenter. Drilled two holes in the lid for the coil, and (if you have it also) moved the thermowell up to the lid since this coil is quite tall. Works wonderfully, circulating ice water, cools 7 gallons down in a few minutes from 75f to 65f. Will incorporate an inkbird to power the pump next batch.

I've used this cooling coil twice now and it does the trick. I have it installed in a 14 gallon Morebeer conical and it's connected to a glycol unit along with a neoprene jacket from Spike brewing. I'm able to jump down thru the temp changes required for a lager with ease and minimal load on my glycol unit. It's a bit of a pain to clean and definitely needs to be disassembled if the krausen reaches the bulkhead fittings.

Anyone ever tried using this as a drop in HERMS coil in their HLT?
This would absolutely work for that function. Would be very easy to setup and clean at the end of the day too.

Enter an I have done this myself and it works great! I did add the fermzilla duotight thermowell to the lid as well and this works great with my glycol chiller!answer to this question.
It will work alright if you don't mind drilling into the plastic lid. The coil is 13.5 inches high in total. The fermenter is 24 inches tall so the coil will sit nicely in the middle of the fermenter for cooling batches large than 5 gallons
it should work fine I have both but do not use them together didn't want the plastic top supporting the coil.
I'd like to direct this question to Scott S. What neoprene jacket from Spike brewing did you purchase for your 14 gallon Morebeer conical? How is the fit etc. I'd like to do the same for mine. Did you add any other temp control accessories?
I got the cf10 it fits pretty well considering it's meant for a different conical and I didn't have to cut it to get it to fit. I already had a heat strip so I use that but it's not working that well and spike offers a heater that fits a conical so I'll probably buy that soon. I hope this helps. Cheers Scott
