BevBright® Beverage Filter - 3 Micron

    Description

BevBright's three micron filters are disposable, multi-zoned, cartridge style filters perfect for filtering beer with any standard 10" filter cartridge housing. BevBright achieves superior efficiency by being the first to spin different diameters of poly strands on the same filter core to create zones of filtration. The zone closest to the core contains consistent, tight fibers for final filtration while the final outer layer zone is spun with larger fibers for increased sediment holding capacity and increased flow capacity. The best of both worlds. By comparison typical spun poly water filters are spun with only one size of fiber. Note that these are True 10" Filter Cartridges that rely upon the housing being closed tightly in order to engage the Knife Seals & eliminate bypass.

    3 Micron Filters
3 micron filters are our recommended size if you have not filtered before. They are a good compromise between the fine filtration of 1 micron and the rougher filtration of 5 microns. Since yeast cells are sized between 5-10 micron a 3 micron filter will remove yeast.

What Efficiency rating should I choose?
We suggest you start with the Super High Efficiency rated filters and adjust from there.

High Efficiency - Removes 90% of the material 3 micron or larger in a single pass.

Super High Efficiency - Removes 98% of the material 3 micron or larger in a single pass.
Absolute Rated - Removes 99.8% of the material 3 micron or larger in a single pass.

    More Information on Efficiency Ratings
The efficiency rating tells you what % of material, at the given micron rating, will be filtered out in a single pass. Cheaper spun poly water filters are never rated for efficiency because they only remove 60-80% of the material at a given micron rating in a single pass. BevBright offer three levels of efficiency to fit any brewers budget or need.

The High Efficiency rated filters work better than any 3 micron rated hardware store spun poly filters . The Super High Efficiency filters represent great value. They remove 98% of material in a single pass for just a little bit more money. Absolute rated filters are more typically used in the wine industry but are available for discerning brewers that want the highest efficiency possible.

        aditional filtering

Learned a lil from trial and error. Used one micron and eventually got clogged. Used 3 microns worked very well. Need to order some five microns and use 5,3,1 micron for crystal clear beverages

        Too Tall?

I seem to have a issue with these filters fitting properly into the plastic canister. I have to tighten down the top of the canister with extreme force in order for the lid to meet the sealing gasket. This is consistent for the 5, 3 and 1 micron filters. Filters seem to be about 1/4" too tall.

        Works as advertised.

I got this to brighten up a slightly hazy beer. It works as advertised.

        They are good

Works well for the micron size. My beer usually settles out by time I put to a 5 gallon kegs from my 10 gallon holding/aging keg. I swapped to the 1 micron over the 3. If your beer is young and you’re eager to get it carbonating; these filters are for you.

Great Filter and works with P# FIL40

This is a great way to speed up the brewing process and i highly recommend it on your lighter color ales/lagers. It is a ONE time use filter. It works with Part # FIL40. Here is how i use it... sorry if this is too much detail but tried to make it easier for you on your initial try...this process isn't that labor intensive.1. Prior to initial use..sanitize your kegs w/ sanitizer....do not dump liquid.2. Hook up co2 (low pressure 6 pounds) to keg with sanitized water in it3. Assemble the FIL 40 WITHOUT FILTER / DO NOT PUT FILTER IN YET.4. Take one end of the FIL 40 and hold over a small bucket or connect to an empty keg (OUT connection only) as you are about to sanitize the FIL40 filtration housing. 5. Connect the other end (black OUT fitting) to the keg with sanitized water6. Sanitized water will flow through your FIL40 housing and clean it out, once this is done you are ready to disconnect and drain the FIL40 housing, empty lines by depressing the inside stem in the black valves. Note you may need to release the co2 valve if connected to an empty keg to reduce pressure in the filter system.7. insert filter, take care in screwing on the clear (EMPTY..SHOULD BE VOID OF Sanitized water) acrylic base8. Rack beer as soon as it hits your target gravity, to a sanitized keg....you can do this ahead of step 19. Connect CO2 to push beer into another sanitized keg w/ co2.10. Connect FIL40 filter system to empty keg (make sure it is the OUT connection)11. Take the second connection from FIL40 and connect to keg with beer12. beer will start to immediately fill into the filter chamber13. Be sure to release pressure on the empty keg by lifting the co2 release, this will allow for faster filling of your clear beer as well as reduce pressure in the filter system (people have complained of these leaking and it is attributed to too much pressure in the filter system...take your time and be patient.)Steps 1 - 13 take about 40 minutes from start to finish for 15 gallons (most of the time is filtering nice bright beer!)Cleaning, after you are done. disconnect everything and unscrew base and toss filter.Clean your empty keg and fill part way with sanitized water.Connect your FIL40 filter system along with C02 to the sanitized keg. Depress the stem valve inside the black fitting to allow liquid to enter the chamber and clean the housing. When finished, i just leave it filled with sanitized liquid

Works great, doesn't store too well

Did a great job making my IPA clear. I tried to flush with starsan to use later, got moldy. So seems like you want to filter a bunch of kegs at once. Then pitch it.

        Good Beer filter

Using this for one 5 gal batch is a bit much but multiple makes it worth it. Clears well.
