Metal caps have a certain defect rate as some are not threaded or formed properly and do not allow for an airtight closure. For this reason, we prefer the plastic ones that are molded.

The cap is metal and fits on the glass jug so that the water stays in the jug. This is what I look for in a cap.

As far as I know, these are the caps that do seal. I bought the plastic caps that just seem to have a thin seal of soft paper and every one of them failed. I lost a gallon and a half of good beer. The one growler I sealed with my last metal lid was perfect. Buy these and replace when they rust, saving money on the plastic caps will cost you good beer.

Some of my growler lids were funky and I couldn’t get the funk off. Nice to be able to toss a few.

Got these for my 1 Gallon Glass Carboys and they fit perfect, and airtight. Accidentally capped a gallon of mead before it finished fermenting, and both the carboy and the cap held more pressure than they should have, and doing so did not damage either of them.

Works perfect for the green glass 4 liter jugs I ordered. Glad its a pack of 25 because after a while they rust. But I'd order again.
