Quality at good price. Excellent transaction.
Easy to use and bottle from, Strong handles facilitate moving it. Generally pleased. One issue: the internal racking arm, even in its full-down position doesn't reach down enough and leaves a lot of beer needing to be siphoned or ladled out. Seem like it should be easy for them to fix, though.
Using to ferment half batch lagers because it fits in mini fridge. Base is sturdy rubbery silicone material held firmly in place with a removable bolt. Easy to remove for cleaning spilled wort. Bucket Material is solid. Has handles. Valve no leak on first try but tested before pouring first batch. I Tape sensor to side with 3M Nexcare paper medical bandage tape - removes easy sticks well. Don't think thermowell is needed . Lid o ring tricky to replace but easier if you zig zag like a star pattern. No space for a fridge big enough for five gallon.
The SS Brewtech Mini Fermenter is nice, assembly’s as directed, although it says use Starsan to passivated instead of Citric Acid
Very satisfied with the new 3.5G brewbucket. Easily fits into my minifridge connected to an Inkbird temp controller. Finish is very polished inside and out which has to be next best thing to glass but more durable. Silicone seal with four hinge locks worked perfectly as evidenced by vigorous bubbler activity. Would prefer flat silicone washers on the spigot vs orings but this is moot as the orings are working. Bonus is my iSpindle wifi works through the ss bucket and minifridge! Means that I can track fermentation progress without opening the lid to peel or draw samples.Handles made movement up and down stairs secure and the attached base protected the spigot and bottom from any unintentional bumps.I look forward to kegging next without using a siphon.
Great design and solid construction. My only complaint is the single, small hole for the airlock. I had to drill another one in the center of the lid to accommodate another stopper for my temp. probe.
This fermenter is just what I was looking for. It is sturdy with handles and an attached rubber stand. This is a big step up from a Mr. Beer plastic fermenter.
Perfect for Kombucha continuous brew. Only other accessary needed is a Rack Cane Filter to keep spigot from clogging.Only complaint is that MoreBeer does not sell the Kombucha lid.
Nice size, easy to clean and samitize. Came really fast
Writing this since most negative reviews here are about the handles and the base. A new version of the Mini Brew Bucket (i purchased from Morebeer in Aug. 2020) now comes with handles, and the base is attached.
No handles and an unattached base make it difficult to move by one's self.
Good: Great fermenter, definitely at same high quality of other SS Brewtech products. Interchangeable parts with larger models.Bad: Moving it while full is more than inconvenient... no handles (you potentially displace liquid having to hug/squeeze it) and the rubber base is not attached. So moving this small fermenter is a 2-person job simply because you need so many hands and you can't set it down without the base.
Sure, you'll pay more for this than a plastic fermenter, But you'll be hard pressed to find something as quality as this product.
Awesome vessel for brewing kombucha! It’s an excellent size and looks great. Easy to sterilize. The spigot is perfect also. I like the internal markings. So you see how much it’s holding. Make kombucha hobby is off to a great start. I like it so much I’m buying a second one so I can make Jun.
Needed a small fermenter for small batches from Pico Z. This does the job. Wanted cooling and the FTSs does exactly what it's supposed to do.
Completing first batch, using the brew bucket as my secondary fermentation, easily moving beer from brew bucket directly into the 2.5 gal keg. Size of brew bucket allowed for cold crashing in refrig, significantly clearing the beer. I would highly recommend this product for someone brewing smaller batches. I would also recommend ordering a second base for the bucket. When the bucket is full, it is difficult to lift and carry both to new location without an extra set of hands.
I've seen comments that the base needs to be attached and that it requires handles. I agree that it needs the base attached but there is enough overhang at the top that provides enough material to hold onto. Overall I am happy with the product.
Really great quality for a reasonable price. My only wish is that the base could be attached to the stainless bucket. It's rather awkward to pick up from the base with no hand holds and no way to set it down otherwise since it has a conical bottom.
I have the 7 gallon SS fermenter and it is very nice. I would rate that one 5 stars. I needed a smaller one to put in kegerator for secondary fermenting. I make a lot of 2-1/2 to 3 gallon batches. This one needs legs or solid bottom glued on base. It is a real hassel to move this thing while full. It could also use some type of handle. I made my own base using a 10L bucket from Big local store and cutting hole out for spout. It works great setting the whole thing in the bucket on a 1" foam bottom in the bucket. I used 4 pieces of foam cut out to slide in around the top of bucket for support which keeps the fermenter solid in the bucket. The ridge on the bucket works as a handle to move the whole thing around. It works very well but I shouldn't need to do this if SS made a couple simple modifications. Then I could rate this 5 stars.
No surprise for an SS product... this is well made and the perfect size for 2.5 or 3 gallon batches. Removable base is a minor annoyance, but a few inches of duct tape (see photo) easily solved this problem. I saw that one reviewer bought an extra silicone base, which is a good idea. For me the tape works great. Probably will buy a second one so I can split larger batches and try different yeast and dry hop combinations.
Built very well, heavier materials and better construction than the Anvil fermenter. The lid and top of the fermenter have rolled edges that adds strength. Nice racking valve. I bottle straight from the valve. As I get to the last bit of beer in the bottom I use a spoon to nudge the arm further into the beer to get that last bottle. I’m not a fan of turning the whole contraption. The valve seals well with slight pressure against the o ring. You can easily over tighten it! I would give it 5 stars but I had to buy another base to place it on. It is not attached to its base and unless you have someone following along with you to place the base where you are going you are screwed. They could attach it to the fermenter with all their technology!!!!
Quality if very good. I'm sure it will work great for my small batches. Three things I don't like. 1) The base is not secured to the tank so if you need to move it when it's full, it's going to take two people. 2) It should have handles. 3) Instructions say you must wash the tank with TSP before use. If that is the case they should have included a small packet.
Absolutely perfect for a half-batch experiment in secondary or longer term aging. The only two beefs I have with this little guy are the noticeable lack of handles and the base. It needs legs like its bigger brother. The base makes it difficult to move around and isn’t quite the perfect solution for stacking multiple. Having said all of that, finding a quality stainless fermenter at this price still yields 5 stars.
Has made transferring and bottling a lot easier!
Perfect for 1-2 gallon heavy, experimental and “special†beers that only you will like. Five gallons of a test beer is rather much to choke down should it not turn out the way you’d hoped it would. Perfect for those Triples and Quads.
Love this little guy, makes Hard Cider brewing MUCH easier than trying to siphon from carboy to carboy. Also just looks really neat on my kitchen counter top. My only gripe is exactly what the others have said... the base is a real pain. it doesn't attach to the bottom so if you want to move this thing you have to have a helper move the base for you.
There are a lot of things to love about this product. Cleaning is a breeze, looks fantastic, fits easily into a mini fridge, transferring beer is easy. The Good: Really easy to disassemble and clean. The gasket comes out of the lid easily, but retains well and is easy to reinstall. The racking cane makes it easy to rack beer off trub, and is positioned perfectly to minimize wort losses. It's really easy to install a blowoff tube with some 3/8" ID silicone tubing if you fill it extra high. It's not terribly heavy (Empty or full), so lifting it isn't a big deal. The Bad: The separate base is really annoying if you ever decide to move it. The other flaw is the tiny o-rings in the racking cane. They're really easy to lose, and really easy to cut when you're installing the racking cane to the valve. The initial cleaning/passivating process is kind of a pain (Took a while to find their recommended cleaner). It'd be nice if they sent a small packet of cleaner with for initial setup.
This fermenter is fantastic, The markings are clear, and cleaning is a breeze. The initial cleaning is a bit of a pain. The racking cane works really well, racking clear wort into a keg is really easy.
After reading the reviews here I decided to purchase the SS brew bucket mini and also ordered a second rubber base for it. As others have stated, it is difficult to move the bucket as the base is not attached to it. I decided to get another base so i simply place it where i intend to move the bucket to and leave the base it was previously sitting on there when i pick it up. This is not ideal but a good workaround to solve the issue. I love the functionality of being able to turn the spigot 360 degree to the exact level of the trub in the bottom of the conical. The rubber gaskets on the spigot smashed out the sides a bit when i hand tightened it but it seems to work fine regardless as there was no leakage. Overall this product is a winner, but i feel like the second generation could solve a few of its issues. Until that time, this is a great value for the money and an awesome fermenter.
Is there a gasket set for the Brew Bucket Mini? I like to keep a spare set on hand.
